This One is for the Grandchildren
I was cleaning up our patio and moved our covered metal fire pit, only to discover the center was rusted out. The outside section was just fine so I was trying to figure out if I could repurpose it. My first thought was to add a piece of wood to the center and make it a nice coffee table for the patio set. Then it came to me, wouldn’t it be fun if I set up an area for a fairy garden.
I was not planning on posting about this so unfortunately I don’t have too many pictures. I removed the grill and even though there were rust holes I drilled some in the bottom so when it rained the water would drain well.
I added dirt, because I originally planned to add several live plants and honestly that is still a goal but, not this year.
The kiddos used Dollar Tree colored gravel and glass beads. I ordered some fairies and accessories from Amazon. Also several of the other pieces came from my mothers collection. I gathered everything together and the grands set it up.
The best part about this is when the adults are sitting out back chatting, our youngest grandchild will pull up her chair and play with the fairies, sometimes putting them in their home. She is always drawn to it and may just “fix” it before doing bubbles.
If you are looking for the perfect Pinterest fairy garden, this is not for you. I wanted something that was easily accessible for the grands and a way for them to be creative and use their imagination.
I hope this gives you some fun ideas for your grands or your children. It’s also great a way to repurpose an old metal fire pit.
Wishing you fun with those grands and lots of Sunny Days!
