Recently I find it difficult to get out and shop. Luckily I was running early to pickup a grand and had about 20 minutes so I thought Tom could handle it, and he did! Like a champ. So we browsed through one of my absolute favorites, Marshall’s.
I always check out the clearance section in housewares and found the most delicious smelling fall candle. It looked like someone had left it in their car and it melted. It smelled so good and was such a great deal that, I brought it home. I was sure I could fix it.
Three Solutions
I thought about 3 solutions to fix this fall candle.
1. Melt it and use the wax in different containers.
If you are interested in making your own candles I have a post on using Dollar Tree supplies to make adorable candles.
2. Melt it under one of those candle lights and call it a day.
3. Melt it in its original container and hopefully use the original wicks.
I chose the third option. I was too lazy to find containers I liked for this project and I didn’t have one of those awesome candle lights.
So here I am melting the candle in water set on medium low. I keep hearing that this process takes half an hour. This candle took at least 2 hours to completely melt. It was fine though because my home smelled like fall.
When you are doing this be extremely careful! The wax is hot, the jar is hot, it could easily turn into a hot mess so make sure you have your hot pads, paper towels and supplies you need close by.
My original idea was to reuse the wicks and I will, just not here. Since they were already cut off and low in the jar I didn’t have anything to hold them into place. Luckily I had purchased this wick set from Amazon so I had the wicks I needed. It was a great deal if you are planning on making some candles, which I am.
I waited overnight, used my handy wick cutter and done.
Now I’m sitting here drinking my coffee, loving how my new candle smells so good and makes me wish for fall and cooler weather.
This was a quick post but, next time you are shopping for candles and come across a damaged one on clearance hopefully you will bring it home and enjoy.
Wishing you happiness and Sunny Days.
