Home Office Organizing Cords

So excited to be setting up my home office. I built a great desk that was sturdy, functional and fit my space. It also had a power bar on top. I just needed a DIY for organizing the cords. They needed to be not only neat but also hidden.

Power bar on top of desk

Convenient? Yes. Messy cords? Yes! I wanted them neat and out of sight.

I went to Pinterest and Amazon looking for ideas. I found boxes that hung on the back of the desk to hide the cords, boxes with lids for the floor but, nothing like what I had in mind. I had an idea for a quick DIY for organizing my cords.

I found this cord organizer box that would fit the aesthetic I was going for and I knew I could alter it to fit my goal.

Cute woven cord organizer.

Hiding in Plain Sight

This woven cord organizer, with a few alterations, will be perfect. The big issue was the bottom that I wanted to fit over the power bar so you would never know there were cords inside.

First thing, I measured what size the hole had to be on a piece of cardboard and cut it out. Now I have a template for the organizer.

Once I had a template to fit the bottom of my cord organizer, I put a ton of craft glue on it and attached it to the bottom of the box. You could probably use a glue gun but I wanted something more permanent.

I put weight on the template and once the glue dried I cut the weave in the hole section of the template. With the cardboard frame glued to the bottom, nothing else unraveled. My box had a metal frame that I did not cut out but, it worked out just fine.

Voila Like Magic!

Nice and neat. I store my computer cord, watch and phone chargers and it looks great. A perfect cord organizer with everything neat and hidden.

The Cords are Almost Completely Hidden

And here you have it.  I just love how it looks on my desk. The cords are neat and organized. And when I finish working at my desk I just put the cords in the box and close the lid.

Cords are Neatly Hidden!

As I mentioned, I just started this journey. I still have a lot to do but, it’s fun to finally have a work space of my own. I love the big windows and the view. Right now I see humming birds from my desk every morning.
If you like the project and decide to try it yourself, I would love to see your results. Thank you for stopping by. I wish you Happiness and lots of Sunny Days!
