For the Love of Vintage

My parents bought the most beautiful wrought iron patio set many years ago.  I always loved this set and it looked brand new for many, many years, until it didn’t. When we moved back to Florida it had seen better days. Unfortunately it was very rusty and the many layers of paint were chipping off. When we moved to Tennessee, Mom was going to get rid of the set but, I knew it would be perfect on our new patio. Even in the condition it was in, it still held so many fond memories.

Let the Work Begin

Rusted wrought iron.

Before refresh

As you can see, it was in terrible shape.

After using a palm sander, scraper, sander again, scraper again and again and again, I sprayed everything with a rust converter and after it dried, several coats of satin white spray paint.

Brought Back to Life!

This was an insanely labor intensive project and no matter how hard I worked on it, it’s still not perfect but, I must say, I’m beyond thrilled. Bringing this vintage set back to life was very satisfying and I love how it turned out.

So much better!

My parents never had cushions on the chairs but, I was lucky enough to find these 18 inch round ones on Amazon. The palm pillow covers came from SHEIN and I made the other pillow. The cushions make it so much more comfortable and cozy.

Speaking of comfortable. We love the fan. It’s on wheels, has a remote and really cools our patio area. I’ve had it for a couple of years and it still looks and works like brand new.

This was definitely a labor of love with labor being the key word. I loved this set growing up and I know we will enjoy it for years to come. If you have done a similar project or plan to I would enjoy if you share it.

Thank you again for stopping by. I wish you happiness and lots of Sunny Days!
