Easy Water Feature

With so many hummingbirds and other lovely birds visiting our yard, I thought a DIY Water feature would be a great idea.

Hummingbirds

The fountain I’m showing came from SHEIN on clearance and has a solar pump, so no electricity needed. You can also get small solar fountains on Amazon.

Thrift Store Find

I had a large plastic drain pan from a previous project so all I needed was a sturdy base. I headed to Goodwill and came across a lamp that would be perfect.

Perfect lamp base for fountain.

This lamp is perfect for the base.

This was a lucky find. The lamp base was nice and heavy. It’s very easy to remove the electrical components by unscrewing the top parts, cutting the cord and pulling it through. I tried it out before assembly, just to make sure it would fit my vision.

Does this work, almost…

Does this work, almost…

Honestly, I could have left it like this but, it needed the other piece I mentioned. Now that I’ve decided, it’s time to paint.

Sprayed copper

Beautiful copper color

I have copper and white wrought iron on our patio so I went with this color. I flipped the drain pan and just painted the bottom and put about 3 coats on the base. I really love this shade of copper.
Once I glued the drain pan to the top of the base with E6000, I let it dry overnight. After everything was completely dry, I placed it in our garden, added some stones and centered the small fountain. And here we have it. Having the big pan on the bottom also helps to recycle the water so it doesn’t dry out too quickly.

Finished Fountain

Thank you for taking the time to visit. I know you would enjoy this project, not just for the birds but, the sound is so relaxing.
Wishing you happy crafting and lot’s of Sunny Days.
